We are regarded as one of the best cellar door and restaurant experiences in the Orange region.

We have received numerous local and international awards for our wines and restaurant facility. We look forward welcoming you at Highland Heritage to share the fruits of our labour.

With a start in a tin shed in 1946, the founder of D’Aquino Bros Pty Ltd, Carmelo D’Aquino, produced six barrels of wine and became the first winemaking family in the Orange district. With a third generation D’Aquino and Roseworthy College graduate now running the company, Rex D’Aquino has continued to expand the business which now incorporates wholesale, retail, distillery and contract bottling whilst still remaining heavily involved in the winemaking.

It seemed natural to continue this winemaking tradition and heritage…

and so in 1988 a 125 hectare property was purchased on the outskirts of Orange, which included one of the first commercially planted vineyard in the area. The original plantings from 1985 have now grown to 16 hectares of vineyard.

A premium Restaurant and Function Centre followed in the late 1990’s.

The D’Aquino Family is now onto their fourth generation and continue to be involved in all facets of the industry, adding a level of professionalism and dedication that is not often seen in the industry.

Highland Heritage Estate vineyard is situated at 900 metres on rich basalt soils. The cool temperatures during most of the growing season coupled with dry autumn conditions are ideal for grape growing. The fruit ripens slowly intensifying colour and flavour. Harvesting the fruit during autumn when its cooler, is also better for the fruit than compared to the heat of warmer climates.

Orange is a cool climate region with the added benefit of an elevation ranging from 600 metres to just under 1200 metres. This has a profound effect on the resultant wines, producing sophisticated and alluring reds and elegant well structured whites.

Located on 125 hectares on the Central Tablelands of New South Wales at Orange, 3kms east of the city, it is currently planted to 40 acres of grapes consisting of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Riesling and Shiraz . Grapes are also purchased from the district and surrounding areas of the Central Tablelands, thus giving us flexibility for our many styles and price ranged wines.

The wines are made by John Hordern, our Chief Winemaker, at the old Oak Milk facility (built in 1950) in Muswellbrook, NSW. We have converted this into a modern winemaking facility. Contract winemaking is also undertaken in addition to our own activities.
