In 2016 Rex D’Aquino commissioned the Patrono Series to commemorate the 70th year of his family’s involvement in the wine industry of Orange.
In 1946 in a tin shed, his grandfather Carmelo D’Aquino, commenced the first winemaking operation in the area, producing six barrels of wine. Three generations later the D’Aquino family are still producing some of the finest wines from the Orange region.
HIGHLAND HERITAGE ESTATE “PATRONO” CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2015
This wine has deep garnet with vibrant dark purple hues. Delicate hints of dark berry’s and dark cocoa with undertones of clove and oriental spice resulting in hints of smoky, almond and earthy characters from oak maturation. A soft mouth entry and acidity herald rich, fruity mid-palate fruit, flavours of currant, and fine tannin. The finish is dry, with subtle sour cherry flavours.
